Operations software & AI automation · Hospitality & service businesses

I build the internal tools
your business runs on —
scoped like a product,
shipped in weeks.

Most developers build exactly what you ask for. After 20 years as a product manager and engineer, I figure out what's actually worth building first — then ship the internal tools and AI automations that hotels, hostels, and service companies need. Fixed price. Live in weeks, not quarters.

The Problem

You don't need another dev. You need the right thing built.

Your team is drowning in repetitive work — guest emails, housekeeping schedules, reports, manual data entry. You know software could fix it. What you don't know yet is exactly which tool is worth paying for.

So you either keep absorbing the cost manually, or hand a vague brief to a freelancer who builds precisely what you said — not what you needed. Then reality arrives.

01 You scope it yourselfThe developer waits for instructions you're not equipped to write — so the burden lands back on you.
02 Hourly billing punishes speedThe faster they could go, the more it pays to go slow. The incentives are backwards.
03 Projects drag onTimelines stretch into quarters while the manual work you wanted gone keeps piling up.
04 AI gets bolted on badlyA flashy demo that hallucinates in front of a real guest is worse than no automation at all.
05 The tool missesAfter all of it, what ships solves the brief — but not the operational problem that started it.
My Approach

Scope like a product manager.
Build at AI speed.

The right tool is rarely obvious on day one — it's uncovered by understanding how your operation actually runs. I spend a focused week figuring out what's worth building, quote it at a fixed price, then ship fast with AI-accelerated development and senior review on every line.

01

Understand

Sit with how your operation actually works day to day.

02

Scope

Decide what's truly worth building — and what isn't.

03

Quote

A fixed price and a spec, before any build commitment.

04

Build

Ship a working version fast — something your team can use.

05

Validate

Test against real data so AI behaves before it meets a guest.

06

Hand Off

Live, documented, and yours — with support if you want it.

Every build starts with one paid Scoping Week — so we build the right thing, at a price you agree to first.
Fixed Price, No Surprises

You agree the price before I build.

No hourly meter, no scope-creep invoices, no wondering where the budget went. The Scoping Week produces a fixed quote — and that's the number, whether the build takes me one week or three.

One Fixed Price

Quoted up front from the scoping spec. My speed is my problem, not your invoice.

Working Demos

Short recorded walkthroughs showing exactly what's been built and why.

Live in Weeks

Most builds reach production in two to six weeks, not two to six quarters.

Validated AI

Every automation is tested against real data before it touches a real customer.

Work With Me

You deal with the person building it — no account managers, no telephone game.

What I Build

Two productized offers. One way to start.

Every engagement begins with a paid Scoping Week. From there, most clients move into an AI ops automation build. Need ongoing product thinking? That's available too.

01

Scoping Week

One focused, paid week to understand your operation, find the highest-leverage thing to automate, and leave you with a spec, a clickable prototype, and a fixed-price build quote — whether or not you build it with me.

  • Operations & workflow deep-dive
  • Prioritized automation opportunities
  • Spec + clickable prototype
  • Fixed-price build quote
02

AI Ops Automation Build

The build itself, at a price agreed before we start. Guest and customer email triage, internal tools, housekeeping and scheduling platforms, document processing — the repetitive work that quietly drains your team, handled.

  • AI email & inbox automation
  • Internal tools & ops dashboards
  • Booking / PMS integrations
  • Validated against real data
03

Fractional Product Leadership

Senior product thinking on demand — for teams that have developers but need someone to decide what's actually worth building, write the spec, and keep delivery pointed at outcomes.

  • Product strategy & roadmap
  • Requirements discovery
  • Prioritization & planning
  • Delivery oversight
Pricing

Clear numbers. No hourly meter.

Start small with a low-risk scoping engagement, then move into a fixed-price build only if the numbers make sense for you.

Step One

Scoping Week

€2,500 fixed

One week. You walk away with a spec, a prototype, and a fixed-price build quote — yours to keep even if you build elsewhere.

Step Two

AI Ops Automation Build

from €8,000 fixed

The build, quoted from your scoping spec. Most automation projects land between €8k–€15k, agreed before a single line is written.

Fractional product leadership is billed as a monthly retainer — let's talk about fit.

Why I'm Different

Not a freelancer. Not an agency.

Freelancers build what you ask. Agencies bill the hours and hand you an account manager. I scope it like a product manager and ship it like a senior engineer — for one fixed price.

About

Jon La Plante

Product Manager · Engineer · Builder of operations software

I've spent more than 20 years across software development, startups, product management, and cloud architecture — starting as a hands-on developer building SaaS and web apps, then moving into product and engineering leadership. That combination is the whole point: most developers build what you ask for, but I figure out what's actually worth building first.

This is my solo practice, focused on the businesses I know best: hospitality and SMB service operations, in Prague, Czechia, and across EU markets. I pair senior product judgment with AI-accelerated development, which means I can scope the right tool like a product manager and ship it fast at a fixed price.
